our nation has a system, called capitalism. interesting that, like the 3 huge socialist nations of orwell's 1984, a state of limbo is inevitable. we can progress to a certain point, but because of inherent problems in systems, we stop and we are unable to turn around.

the inherent problem in the institution of Systems is that all systems have inherent problems.

or components of that system, at least; case in point: the human race.
we actually evolved out of evolving. hear me out. the system works for a little while, the species intelligent enough to help itself out, and it grows. but. somewhere along the lines, we learn to help ourselves out to the point where natural selection is eliminated. not only are we protected from evolution by our intelligence in developing healthcare and governmental systems, we actually introduced a new force in the evolutionary system: human selection.
think: we can eliminate the most well-adapted species on the planet, for any reason we choose, or no reason at all. not very logical.
in fact, the whole system is destroyed by its own creation. you see, there is a central function for what we percieve as 'everything'. Like the function that produces fractal graphics? only more complicated. everything is part of this function, right? but there is a catch: the function itself is not perfect. it spits out the wrong number every once in a while. enter chaos.
